Day 2: September 14, 2026 (Scottish Royals and Politicians)
Scottish Royals and Politicians
We woke up in the morning, ate breakfast and then got ready to start the day. We met our teachers and classmates at 10 o’clock in the lobby. Together we walked up the Calton Hill. Once we reached the view point, we had a great overview over Edinburgh. Our teachers each gave us a small presentation. Afterwards we took a little walk to see all the different monuments, such as the National Monument of Scotland.
Then, we continued our walk to the Scottish Parliament, where our classmate gave us a creative presentation about it. For the second presentation we walked up the Royal Mile all the way to St. Giles Cathedral. On each side there were a lot of shops, especially gift shops for tourists. It was very crowded and once in a while we heard a bagpipe playing. In general, there were many street performances, there was even a designated spot for them where they would sometimes gather very big audience watching them.
In the afternoon, we had booked a audio guideded tour in the Palace of Holyroodhouse which was very interesting. Afterwards, we were given some free time in which we could do anything we wanted. Some cooked things for dinner and others worked on the different tasks. Some also went to the mall for some shopping. In the evening, we finished the day with some card games and then went to sleep.
