Bild
More of Edinburgh (by Mirjam & Vianne) After our joyous evening of Ceilidh dancing yesterday, we started our day with a short walk to the Scott monument, where we got to listen to Melia and Alex's presentation.   We continued our walk through the city, climbing the steep hill, on which the majestic Edinburgh Castle is located. Another presentation held by Matteo, Šimon and Ghizmo informed us of the castle's long and rich history. On our way down we passed Victoria street which served as an inspiration for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter. On Greyfriars Kirkyard, Lilly, Marta and Julie's presentation awaited us. They told us the stories of the numerous people connected to the place; body snatchers, religious prosecutors and Scotland's most famous dog: Bobby. The afternoon was spent individually. Some of us did interviews in Scotland street (for those who don't know, that's where our English book is set), some went shopping or further explored the city. We then go...

Day 3: September 15, 2026 (National Museum of Scotland and Ceilidh)

National Museum of Scotland and Ceilidh (by Iris & Kaja) We started our day at 9.30 am and made our way to the National Museum of Scottland. First, we explored the section about the geological history of Scottland. We did a quiz and took a selfie with the first cloned mammal, the sheep Dolly.  Then, we all had our individual lunches and some of us went to Nando’s, where we were able to experience the British idea of South African cuisine.  In the early afternoon we returned to the museum and took a look at the Scottish history from the 18th century up until today. We learned about Scottland’s industrialization, her part in the two world wars and the political and economic situation after the wars.  After our visit in the national museum we had our free afternoon, which we used to go to the mall, go to bookshops, explore the city, prepare our school tasks and get ready for the evening, as then would come the highlight of the day: our first ever Ceilidh dance. The Ceili...

Scottish Royals and Politicians (by Matteo & Šimon) We woke up in the morning, ate breakfast and then got ready to start the day. We met our teachers and classmates at 10 o’clock in the lobby. Together we walked up the Calton Hill. Once we reached the view point, we had a great overview over Edinburgh. Our teachers each gave us a small presentation. Afterwards we took a little walk to see all the different monuments, such as the National Monument of Scotland. Then, we continued our walk to the Scottish Parliament, where our classmate gave us a creative presentation about it. For the second presentation we walked up the Royal Mile all the way to St. Giles Cathedral. On each side there were a lot of shops, especially gift shops for tourists. It was very crowded and once in a while we heard a bagpipe playing. In general, there were many street performances, there was even a designated spot for them where they would sometimes gather very big audience watching them. In the afternoon, we...

Day 1: September 13, 2026 (Basel - Edinburgh)

Basel - Edinburgh (by Lhadon & Angelina) 6am - The journey was about to begin at Basel SBB. Still tired, our first train started rolling. About an hour later we arrived at our first stop, Strasbourg. From there we soon continued our journey to Paris. As we got off the train in Paris, we saw none other than the Orient Express. For those who don’t know the reference. That is the play we did last year : Mord im Orientexpress. Then, we had to go to the Eurostar. The way there was crowded, and progress was slow, but in the end we made it and entered the train directly to London through the Eurotunnel below the sea. Though the time below sea was short.  In London we were waiting for our last train to Edinburgh, which by the way took the longest. But we eventually made it.  And then the last few steps…We stood in front of our apartments. As we opened the door we were shook. It was so pretty and had so much space.  Finally, after almost 16 hours of traveling we arrived t...
